MyRaft - Social App for Cal State Monterey Bay

Background and Motivation

MyRaft is a social app that CSUMB students can use to connect with one another with their Otter ID. Currently, MyRaft is limited in its capabilities and has a lot of bugs across its most popular features. Students have issues responding to posts, messaging one another, etc. We aim to improve the MyRaft user

Objective

We aim to improve the MyRaft user experience to facilitate better connections among students and with campus activities. By refining features and optimizing user pathways, we are creating a platform that fosters engagement and community interaction Our objective is to implement progressive enhancement techniques to ensure a consistent user experience across different devices.

Collaboration between Designers and Developers

Our Designers and programmers met twice a week, these meetings were crucial for ensuring seamless collaboration and alignment between both teams. During these sessions, designers presented their latest interface mockups and wireframes, explaining the rationale behind design choices and how they enhanced user experience. Programmers, in turn, provided feedback on the feasibility of implementing these designs within the technical constraints of the app. They also discussed any potential challenges and proposed solutions. This regular communication fostered a clear understanding of expectations and timelines, allowing both teams to address issues promptly and iteratively refine the app. The structured handoff process involved detailed documentation and walkthroughs, ensuring that the transition from design to development was smooth and efficient, ultimately leading to a cohesive and functional MyRaft application.
